The Sandbox SAND Bridge
The Sandbox used cross-chain SAND bridge configuration on Base and BNB Smart Chain backed from Ethereum. On August 21, 2026, an attacker exploited contracts associated with that bridge configuration to mint unbacked SAND and drain 14,742,341.84 SAND from the Ethereum backing vault. The affected Base/BSC bridge paths were disabled and a compensation process was later launched for eligible users.
